medium size apples
1 Tbsp
flour
2/3 to ¾ cup sugar
¼ tsp
cinnamon
¼ tsp
nutmeg
1 or 2
Tbsp butter
lemon
juice if desired
Make pastry for double
crust pie. Peel and slice apples. I
usually cook apples till tender, then make pie. Mix dry ingredients and
mix
with apples. May need 2 Tbsp flour. Put in pie crust, top with butter
and add
top crust and seal. Make steam vents in top crust. Bake at 450º for 15
minutes,
then 325º for 35 minutes.
Streusel Topping for Apple Pie
¾ cup
flour
½ tsp
cinnamon
1/3
cup
brown sugar
1/3 cup butter
Mix
flour, cinnamon and sugar. Add butter and mix til
crumbly. Put on top of pie instead of top crust. Bake as above.
