Danish Sugar Cookies

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
Cream until light then mix in the following
2 cups flour
½ tsp soda
½ tsp cream of tartar
 
Blend into above mixture. Make small balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Press flat with a glass dipped in granulated sugar. Bake at 325° for 15 minutes or til golden brown. A hot oven makes cookies crisp. Store in tin box or can. Will stay crisp for weeks. Makes 5 dozen.
