1 cup
shortening
1 cup
sugar
1 cup
brown sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
1 cup
peanut butter
2 eggs,
beaten
3 cups
flour
2 tsp
soda
dash of
salt
Thoroughly cream
shortening, sugars, and vanilla. Add eggs
and beat thoroughly. Stir in peanut butter. Add dry ingredients, stir
into
creamed mixture. Form into balls about the size of a walnut and put on
ungreased cookie sheet. Mash with a fork to make a crisscross. I use a
meat
tenderizer to make crisscross or can be rolled and cut. Bake at 375º
for 10
minutes. Makes several dozen.
Of all the
cookies Mom makes, this is Gary's
favorite.
She has made them several times as a birthday gift for him. And
believe
me, this is one thing he isn't very eager to share with others!—Mary
I remember
baking these with Grandma when I’d come
down to visit.—Jacinda
Best because
we had Skippy Chunky Peanut Butter.
Probably my favorite cookie.—Randy
Wouldn’t
taste the same without the cross-hatch
made with the fork.—Nathan
My all time
favorite!—Peggy
