I have
made many a popcorn ball for
school when home-room mother, also for Christmas, etc.
1 cup
sugar
1/3 cup
white Karo syrup
1/3 cup
water
¼ cup
butter or oleo
¾ tsp
salt
¾ tsp
vanilla
3
quarts
popped corn
Boil sugar, syrup,
water, butter and salt until it spins a
long thread. Add vanilla and coloring if desired. Pour over corn and
form into
balls after buttering your hands.
Popcorn
balls are a holiday treat, could be
Halloween or Christmas. One of my great memories is Mom would make
these for
the Church and they would give them out to the kids on Christmas Eve
after
service. She makes the best—chewy and caramely—wonderful.—Randy
I well
remember the ‘red’ and the ‘green’.—Roberta
My Junior
Class made hundreds of popcorn balls to
help finance the Prom. Every Vandal was a fan of this recipe!—Keith
