1 cup
shortening
3-oz cream
cheese, softened
1 cup
sugar
1 egg
1 tsp
almond extract
2½ cups
flour
½ tsp
salt
¼ tsp
soda
jam or
jelly
Cream
shortening and cream cheese. Gradually add sugar.
Beat until light and fluffy. Add egg and almond extract. Blend well.
Combine
flour, salt and soda. Stir into creamed mixture. Chill dough at least
one hour.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Gently flatten and make an indention in
each
cookie with your thumb. Fill with jam or jelly of your choice. Bake at
350º for
16 to 18 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
